Case studies
Results, reported the way we report to clients
Every case study on this page will name the client with their permission, state the baseline, list what shipped, and show the movement in revenue, conversion rate, order value and repeat rate from reconciled order data. The first CartKernel engagements are under way; their case studies will appear here as results are verified.
Until then, the fastest way to see the work is a live walkthrough of an engagement in progress, or a Growth Analysis of your own store.
Results
Case studies, reported the way we report to clients
We publish results only with the client's permission and only from reconciled order data. The first CartKernel case studies are in progress; this is the standard each one will meet.
What every CartKernel case study includes
- 01
Client and platform
Named with permission, with the platform, catalog size and starting revenue band.
- 02
Baseline
A defined period before the work, with the same metrics we report monthly.
- 03
What changed
The specific fixes, builds and campaigns, in the order they shipped.
- 04
Result
Revenue, conversion rate, AOV, MER and repeat rate movement, with the comparison period stated.
- 05
How it was measured
Reconciled order data, not platform-attributed revenue, and any caveats spelled out.
Reporting
Reported to the bank, not the dashboard.
Channel dashboards flatter every channel. We report the store's economics, reconciled to orders, so growth is judged by what reached the bank.
Every metric below is defined once, in writing, before the engagement starts, and reported the same way every month.
Monthly growth report
what every client receives
- Revenue
- Net of refunds, reconciled to the order system every month.
- Contribution margin
- Revenue less product cost, shipping, payment fees, returns and variable marketing.
- MER
- Total revenue divided by total marketing spend. The number attribution cannot inflate.
- Blended CAC
- All acquisition spend divided by new customers acquired.
- Conversion rate by template
- Category, product, cart and checkout, split by device and source.
- Average order value
- Tracked alongside conversion rate so neither is gamed at the other's expense.
- Revenue per session
- The one number that captures traffic quality, conversion and order value together.
- Repeat purchase rate
- By acquisition cohort at 90, 180 and 365 days.
