Traffic
Traffic: depth, undertone, finish and the shade someone already wears
Colour demand is described in four dimensions that most catalogues flatten into one collection called Face. Shoppers search by depth and undertone (foundation for fair cool skin, concealer for olive undertone), by finish and coverage (matte full coverage foundation), by product type crossed with skin type (foundation for dry mature skin), and by the shade name or number they already wear when they are looking for the nearest equivalent. The traffic work is to build those dimensions as indexable collections with their own writing and a filtered grid behind them, and to publish a shade guide for each complexion franchise that lists every shade with its depth, undertone and description in text. That guide is the page that catches the long tail no product page can reach.
