Traffic: substrate, width and what the pattern calls for
Fabric search is written in the vocabulary of the pattern envelope. Shoppers type a substrate, a fiber and a use in one string: cotton lawn for a summer dress, 4 way stretch swim fabric, fat quarter bundle, 60 inch wide linen. Stores that organize the catalog around print themes alone leave all of it unanswered. We build indexable collections for substrate, fiber, width, weight, stretch and end use, write each one so it explains what the cloth does rather than repeating its name, then link them from pattern content that names the fabric requirement. That last link is what turns a browsing sewist into someone who knows exactly how much to put in the cart.
