Traffic
Traffic: every size in the matrix is a search
Nobody searches for shipping supplies. They search for a size, and there are thousands of them. A catalog that answers only at the category level gives away the entire long tail to whoever built a page for twelve by nine by four. The traffic work is a page for every size that has real demand and real stock, generated from catalog data but written so each one carries something specific: internal dimensions, board grade, bundle and pallet quantity, what typically ships in it and the nearest alternative sizes. Done carelessly this creates thousands of near-identical pages, so the discipline is grouping by size family, keeping only sizes worth a page, and linking them sensibly to each other.
